We start by providing a pedagogical review of quantum mechanics and Einstein’s theory of general relativity with an emphasis on their mathematical foundations. Next, we discuss both the need for and the approach towards unifying Gravity with the Quantum. We do so by focusing on a new approach that resolves the problem of time in quantum gravity. Finally, we conclude with a discussion of potentially new mathematical physics directions as exemplified by this new approach to quantum gravity.
